SAFETY & SECURITY

Stafford Gage and Tool, Inc. prioritizes importance of maintaining safety and security throughout the company. Machining industry is dangerous, therefore several requirements have been set to keep the staff and facility safe. Two primary hazards that arise from CNC machine operations are Entanglement with moving machinery and the Ejection of parts. Serious lacerations, fractures, amputations or even death can occur if an anyone contacts or becomes entangled in / or between tooling and / or rotating work equipment. Similar injuries or death can also occur from being struck by ejected parts (this includes but not limited to cutters, other tools, chunks or the work piece.) Most machinery is hand loaded or automatically fed. Most machinery is partially or totally enclosed.  To prevent injury or death, the machine may only operate with doors shut to keep the workspace enclosed (metal enclosure & thermoplastic vision panels).

OSHA basic safety rules can be applied as a guideline to maintain safety. Although this guide addresses point-of-operation safeguards, it is also important to establish and enforce safe work practices when operating and maintaining all types of equipment and machinery.
