I got these for my CNC Bridgeport Series I Milling machine. I made a block that bolts to the side of the machine where I install a 1/2" rod, and then I made a new torque arm for my Tapmatic head with a hole in it that matches the location of the rod. I need to have this rod only installed when the Tapmatic head is installed, and then it needs to be removed, as it is in the way for everything else. When I originally made the block, I just stuck a set screw in it... but after using it a while, I ended up with jobs that I wanted to mill, drill, and tap every part, which means a lot of removing and installing the Tapmatic head and that rod. Since there is not a huge force trying to remove the rod, just gravity, and the only load on it is a little side load from the torque arm, I though instead of getting out an Allen wrench every time I wanted to install or remove the rod, that some thumbscrews would be better... then I saw these brass thumbscrews!! These look GREAT and they do the job perfectly, actually much better than the steel set screws, because they are softer than the stainless-steel rod, and they are nice and flat on the end, not cupped like the set screws, so they don't mess up my rod making it difficult to remove. I originally put two set screws in, but I found that just one of these thumbscrews is more than adequate for the task, and it makes installing or removing the shaft super fast as I don't need to grab a wrench every time. I'm really happy with the quality and finish on these and the knurls work great as well. They are really great, and I highly recommend them!

More stars should be available. Insert another five here! :-) These are made so well and so precisely that I want to order more even though I don't have a need for them. The knurls on the knobs are very grippy, which is quite important on something like this. I will be using these on some boating equipment which I assemble and take down each day I am ahoy. The narrowness of the knobs will allow easier attachment for my needs, which is why I ordered these. I love to support small businesses as well so, Bonus That!!
